Synopsis:
This work takes inspiration from Japanese television programs that stage competitions around records such as the fastest way to do laundry, deliver a package, or eat a watermelon. I created a collage of what I imagine to be the “fastest” ways of doing something. Some actions are immediately legible, while others require time to unravel or remain open to interpretation.
In a society where speed and efficiency are celebrated, I wanted to expose the absurdity of our obsession with being faster, of moving toward goals often not our own but conditioned by social systems. The work reflects on how we become components of a larger machine, performing roles we have been trained to fulfill, even when their logic feels arbitrary.
